Secrets of the Soil podcast: amazing solutions to saving our ecosystems through regenerative agriculture

In this podcast Regen Ray and I discuss my PhD research and the diversity of approaches to regenerative agriculture; which is in part a shared storyline. This story carries strong ethical connotations around the importance of restoring lost ecosystems – or increasing the health and diversity of ecosystems generally. The story is clear enough that many farmers feel connected to it. However, it is also vague enough that these same farmers can have extremely different approaches to ‘regenerative agriculture.’

This makes regenerative agriculture a point of common ground, which disparate groups can organise around. If agriculture is going to be transformed by these groups, it is important that they can connect and support each other. However, this also makes regenerative agriculture vulnerable to co-option and greenwashing. As it gets adopted by corporate giants, and remains relatively silent on issues of equity and power, regenerative agriculture stands at the crossroads of transformation and a corporate rebrand.
